NEW: Haaland Raises $1M, Setting Record Pace for New Mexico Fundraising

Haaland has raised an unprecedented sum within the first week of launching her campaign

Albuquerque, N.M. – Today, the Deb Haaland for New Mexico campaign announced that just five days after launching, Deb Haaland has crossed $1,000,000 in contributions from over 20,000 donors, including donations from every county in New Mexico. This impressive haul demonstrates her strong base of grassroots support in addition to her dynamic ability as a fundraiser.

Educators continue to be the top occupation among donors, followed by retirees, legal professionals, and medical workers—highlighting the deep support from those who serve their communities and the average online contribution is under $50. Additionally, over 1,500 individuals have set up recurring contributions with an average under $15 and have pledged a total of more than $22,000 in sustained grassroots support in just the first five days of this campaign.

On Thursday, Haaland held the first event of her statewide launch tour in Albuquerque. The room was packed to the brim—over 800 New Mexicans attended, and there were not one, but two overflow rooms. Her next two stops continued that momentum with rooms filled to capacity in Bernalillo and Santa Fe and a total of nearly 500 community members in attendance. She was also endorsed by: Sen. Ben Ray Luján, Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez, Rep. Melanie Stansbury, and Rep. Gabe Vasquez.

“The enthusiasm that we’ve seen over the past few days has been nothing short of incredible. It shows that New Mexicans are ready to change the status quo and build a better future for themselves, their families, and our communities,” said Haaland. “I know that job isn’t easy, but I’m ready and I’m honored to have their trust.”

Haaland launched her campaign on Tuesday with a video highlighting her commitment to lowering costs, addressing crime, and promoting healthy communities. Over the next month, she will continue to travel the state to hear about New Mexicans’ struggles and share with them her solutions for their communities.

Haaland’s fundraising efforts align with New Mexico’s statute which bars sitting state elected officials from fundraising during the New Mexico legislative session.
