Deb Haaland Previews Economic Agenda

Haaland Pledges to cut red tape, attract new industries to New Mexico

Albuquerque, New Mexico – Today, Deb Haaland, candidate for New Mexico governor, headlined a “Breaking Barriers” event for the New Mexico chapter of the American Marketing Association. In her speech, Haaland previewed her economic plan for New Mexico and laid out a path to support small, local businesses and spur new economic opportunities for New Mexicans.

“There’s no reason New Mexico can’t lead the country in tech investments, clean energy research and production, and a robust, homegrown film industry,” said Deb Haaland. “Our state is making progress, but there’s so much more to be done.”

Haaland has met with small business owners, workers and local officials about the challenges they face. Haaland’s proposal includes components to ensure that New Mexico makes up for the federal cuts to programs essential for the state’s small businesses, to double down on site readiness, and to attract more industries to all corners of the state. Over the course of the coming weeks, Haaland will continue speaking with local communities, and will outline more ideas for her plan to create economic opportunity for all New Mexicans.

“Deb Haaland is about bringing solutions to the table that change the game for everyone. She’s building a winning coalition to take New Mexico into the future,” said Felicia Salazar, Haaland’s deputy campaign manager and spokesperson. “We’re excited to continue unveiling our roadmap over the coming weeks and months.”

Haaland’s campaign has been endorsed by local elected officials, small business owners, advocates, and organizations. Senator Ben Ray Luján, Representatives Teresa Leger Fernandez, Melanie Stansbury, and Gabe Vasquez, and organizations including Conservation Voters New Mexico Action Fund and EMILYs List have endorsed Haaland.
