Deb Haaland Stands with Workers at Creamland Dairy Strike
Albuquerque, NM – Today, Deb Haaland, New Mexico gubernatorial candidate, stood with workers on strike at the Creamland Dairy Albuquerque plant. The workers, represented by Teamsters Local 492, are fighting for better pay, benefits, and working conditions.“
New Mexico’s workers are the backbone of our economy and they should be paid fairly. I stand with unions because they build up the middle class and advocate for the healthcare and benefits that people rely on. As Donald Trump continues to weaken the rights of unions and attack our healthcare, unions will be critical to providing support of their members. I am proud to stand with Creamland Dairy workers,” Deb Haaland said.
Haaland has stood in solidarity with unions her entire career and understands that strong unions help families pay the bills, have access to healthcare, and earn a secure retirement. In Congress, Haaland voted to raise the minimum wage and cosponsored legislation to strengthen workers’ rights to organize. At the Department of Interior, she oversaw hundreds of millions of dollars of investments across the country that created good-paying union jobs.
