BREAKING: Haaland Secures 2,505 Nominating Signatures in Less Than 24 Hours, Fastest in New Mexico History

Strong showing on nominating signatures points to continued momentum for Haaland’s campaign

Albuquerque, NM – Momentum for Deb Haaland’s campaign for governor remains strong as she secures the required signatures to qualify for the 2026 ballot in less than 24 hours. Yesterday, the New Mexico Secretary of State opened the nominating petition portal and in a show of force 2,505 New Mexico voters signed on to support Deb Haaland, and the list continues to grow.

“This year I visited every county in the state and my vision to lower costs, improve education, make healthcare available and affordable, and tackle our crime issues is resonating with New Mexicans. I’m proud to have resounding support of the New Mexicans who signed the petition to help me get on the ballot,” said Deb Haaland.

In the first six months of her campaign, Haaland visited all 33 counties in New Mexico, where she met thousands of New Mexicans in their hometowns. She picketed with Creamland Dairy workers and their union to secure a deal for fair wages and benefits, joined efforts to keep doctors in New Mexico by raising salaries for resident physicians, and walked with communities for fentanyl awareness and built hygiene packets to assist the homeless.

Haaland has earned more than 100 endorsements including U.S. Senator Ben Ray Lujan, U.S, Representatives Melanie Stansbury, Gabe Vasquez, and Theresa Leger Fernandez, former U.S. Senator Tom Udall, and lead organizations including veterans group Common Defense, Conservation Voters of New Mexico, and New Mexico Native Vote.

Haaland is committed to building a people powered campaign that tackles New Mexico’s toughest challenges head on, and she brings her grit and determination from living paycheck to paycheck as a single mother and achieving 35 years of sobriety to serving New Mexico in Congress and leading one of the largest federal departments in the country as Secretary of the Department of the Interior as the most qualified candidate to lead the state and push back against the Trump Administration.
