Deb Haaland Record Supporting Children & Families, Education Plan Earns Endorsement From New Mexico Voices For Children Action Fund
Albuquerque, N.M. – Today, New Mexico Voices for Children Action Fund announced their endorsement of Deb Haaland in the New Mexico gubernatorial election. The endorsement is a testament to Haaland’s record supporting children and building policy that supports families, including as the leader of the universal childcare bill in Congress.
NMVC Action Fund works to advance child and family-friendly policies and support leadership with actionable plans to improve the well-being of New Mexico’s children and families.
Families across the state are struggling to make ends meet, and too many children are falling behind as a result. Haaland has outlined comprehensive education and affordability agendas designed to support children and strengthen families. Her plans focus on teaching kids to read earlier, lowering costs, raising wages, increasing access to consistent services, high-quality child care, ensuring that kids have opportunities outside of the classroom, and helping families build lasting financial security.
“Our board of directors unanimously voted to endorse Deb Haaland as New Mexico’s next Governor. Her dedication to funding early childhood programs, quality public schools, mental health care for children, and financial security for families—supported by a fair state budget—makes her the obvious choice to create a better future for the children of this state,” said James Jimenez, Executive Director of VCNM Action Fund.
“We all have a responsibility to build a bright future for our kids and the generations that come after them. When a kid falls behind it is our responsibility to support them and get them back on track. I am honored to earn the endorsement of Voices for Children New Mexico Action Fund and I will work everyday to build a bright future for our children and families,” said Haaland.
Throughout her campaign, Haaland has traveled to all 33 counties in New Mexico where she met with families and shared her vision for the state. Her full education plan and affordability agenda are available here.
