Haaland’s Story Is New Mexicans’ Story in First Ad of the General Election

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Today, Democratic nominee for governor Deb Haaland released her first ad of the general election cycle titled “Family.”

The ad highlights that New Mexicans are doing everything right, but too many still have to fight every day to make ends meet and that Haaland is committed to fighting just as hard, every day, for New Mexico families directly.

Haaland is a single mom who started her own small business, relied on SNAP and WIC to get through tough times, and accessed healthcare through Medicaid. As a child, she carried water from the community spigot to her grandmother’s house. Haaland is the best person to fight for New Mexico families because she has lived many of the same struggles.

Haaland will fight for better schools, safer streets, and lower costs for housing, utilities, and groceries. Throughout her campaign, Haaland has traveled to all 33 counties to meet and hear from New Mexico families.

“New Mexicans are not afraid of hard work and are no strangers to the affordability crisis. This ad showcases that Deb understands that struggle because she’s lived it, and as our next governor, her priority is lowering costs and putting money in people’s pockets. Throughout her career, she worked with anyone to deliver for New Mexicans and will continue to fight for us as governor,” said Haaland Campaign Manager Dylan McArthur.

[Voice Over 4]: We battle for our homes, our education.

[Voice Over 5]: It’s not just Deb Haaland’s story.

[Deb Haaland]: It’s New Mexico’s. I’m Deb Haaland and I approve this message because New Mexicans are family. As governor, I’ll fight every day so you can provide for yours.
