Haaland Talks Affordability Crisis, Standing up to Trump, and Vision for New Mexico
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – This week, Democratic nominee for Governor Deb Haaland discussed her plans to lower costs for New Mexico families with independent journalist Aaron Parnas, in an interview seen by thousands of New Mexico voters.
In the interview, Haaland discussed her bipartisan track record in Congress, her plans to stand up to the Trump administration, holding ICE accountable, and ensuring Santa Fe and Washington are working together to lower costs for New Mexican families, starting with our power bills, our grocery bills, and our healthcare bills.
“Right now, New Mexicans, they can’t afford to, some of them can’t afford to pay rent and buy groceries in the same month. People are going into debt just to put gas in their cars to get back and forth to work. This president is making New Mexicans sicker, poor, and hungrier. […] With all the Medicaid cuts that are going to hit on January 1st, they recognize that the state will need to fill in all of those gaps. And quite frankly, the Democrats are the ones who care. We care that people don’t have healthcare. We care that we want our children to have child care.”
Throughout her campaign, Haaland has released policy plans that include bold solutions to bring down utility and housing costs, create safer communities, teach kids to read sooner, and provide access to quality, affordable healthcare.
