President Obama Announces Support of Deb Haaland for Governor
“Deb has spent her entire career fighting for New Mexicans, and she’ll keep on doing it.”
Albuquerque, N.M. – Today, former President Barack Obama announced his support of Deb Haaland to be the next Governor of New Mexico.

In a video posted to social media, President Obama states that Haaland will “lower costs, strengthen education, build safer communities, and protect your healthcare because she knows what families are up against.”
President Obama cites Haaland’s experience as an Organizer, where she knocked on thousands of doors in Indian Country and heard stories from every corner of New Mexico.
“I am honored to earn the support of President Barack Obama for my campaign,” said Haaland. “Just like President Obama, I got my start as an Organizer where I knocked on thousands of doors, listened to New Mexicans, and heard their stories. Now, I’m running for Governor to take those concerns to the Roundhouse and create a New Mexico where everyone can thrive.”
Haaland previously served as the Native American Vote Director in New Mexico for President Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign. Throughout her campaign, Haaland has released policy plans that include bold solutions to help kids read sooner, bring down utility and housing costs, put more money in New Mexicans’ pockets, create safer communities, and provide access to quality, affordable healthcare.
