Chair of NM Land Grant Committee, Senator Leo Jaramillo Endorses Haaland for Governor

Albuquerque, N.M. – Today, Chair of the New Mexico Legislative Land Grant Committee, Senator Leo Jaramillo endorsed Deb Haaland for governor.

As chair of the land grant committee, and as vice chair of the senate rules committee, Senator Leo Jaramillo has been a strong advocate for key legislative initiatives to protect New Mexico’s land grants and expand healthcare for families.

“I’m proud to endorse Deb Haaland for Governor of New Mexico. She understands our communities, our culture, and what it means to fight for the people. From acequias and land grants to the streets of Española, where lowrider pride runs deep, Deb knows that our heritage isn’t just history—it’s our future. Let’s keep moving New Mexico forward with Deb because we are truly stronger together with her!” said Senator Leo Jaramillo.

“Senator Jaramillo’s upbringing in Española gives him a unique perspective on strategies that will help families, protect our land, and strengthen our healthcare system,” said Haaland. “Senator Jaramillo has worked tirelessly to expand medical compacts, increase pay for healthcare professionals, and improve access to healthcare across the state, and I look forward to working with him to provide quality care to New Mexicans, no matter what.”

Deb Haaland has a strong record of supporting rural communities. In addition to supporting legislation to improve communications between federal agencies and New Mexico’s land grant communities, Haaland oversaw hundreds of millions of dollars in investments in rural water infrastructure projects, high speed internet, and the New Mexico Acequia Association.

Senator Jaramillo joins state legislators, House Speaker Javier Martinez, House Majority Floor Leader Reena Szczepanski, and Senate Pro Tempore Mimi Stewart who trust Haaland to lower costs, improve education, increase public safety, and expand healthcare.
